Laundromat Etiquette & Rules
​
• Pre-sort your laundry at home, sorting dirty clothes at a laundromat is unsanitary and disrespectful to other patrons. Nobody wants to smell dirty laundry.
• Overloading machines will not wash your clothes, they need room to agitate. The hot air in the dryer has to get through the clothes to dry them. Also, overloading damages the machines.
• Overfilling the washer with detergent, bleach or fabric softener can create a safety hazard. Chemicals will not rinse out of your clothes or the machine. It may affect the next person’s clothes.
• Don’t leave your laundry unattended. If you leave the premises, come back promptly. Waiting costumers or owners can and will remove your laundry out of the machine and place it on a table or cart. The owner reserves the right to charge $5 for each washer/dryer that has stopped for more than 10 minutes.
• Please don’t leave items in a cart or on a table if you’re not using them. Don’t put a cart in front of a machine you’re using, it’ll just be in other people’s way as they try do their laundry.
• Bringing in Pet Hair-Laden Items is a huge no-no. Pet hair can clog up machines and hair stays behind in a washer. Wash pet hair-laden items at home with an outdoor hose.
• Always check pockets of clothes to make sure they’re empty of items such as lighters, vape pens, screws, coins, etc. These items can be very dangerous and cause a fire in the dryer, not to mention damage the machines. You may be civilly and/or criminally liable.
• Respect your laundromat and other patrons by acting with care. Don’t let your children run around, sit in carts or sit on tables. Dispose of dryer sheets and clean up any spills. Doing laundry is a chore we don’t necessarily like to do but we have to do it, adhering to the above rules will go a long way in making your laundry hour an easier and happier experience for you and your neighbors.
